Fills
The fills of a song can be described as its "ear candy." These are additional pieces that may seem small but add significantly to the overall value and experience. Any instrument or sound can play the role of a fill.

Just like in music, the fills in my college life have been diverse, spanning a wide range of experiences. However, in a word I would call them extra-curriculars.
They have been the extension of all my academic experiences, where I bring more substance and form to the things I learn. As a result, some of my richest experiences in college have been through these experiences.

PEN PAL PROGRAM
Through this program organized by FIUTS I exchanged letters with two elementary schoolers from underprivileged areas in the Seattle area, and met with them on the final day of the exchange.

Through this program, I was able to listen to the voices of two very different young people and be reminded of the generations coming after me. I've always valued the differences in wisdom and perspective between generations, but it wasn't until I grasped the reality of the global challenges of our world - many exacerbated by earlier generations - that I truly realized the responsibility that each generation has to the next. Being able to share with and listen to these young individuals was a key moment in realizing that there is a generation after me, and it reinvigorated in me the need to take care of and better the world for them.
